Sit down Angel.

So there I was/am.... swinging flies behind one of my favorite women to fish with- she's talented, beautiful, and an excellent caster so getting to be here fishing with her inspires me. I had two other amazing souls down below me further and I felt high. Not to mention this water I am swinging into fishes incredible....Fast moving current off a log splitting into a seam that slows and as my fly sinks along the seam, at about the perfect angle it begins a sexy little swing through the current below me.
I become mesmerized. Feeling the swing with this light rod I borrowed is beautiful...sending me into a rhythm- it is definitely not reggae or the beat boxing we did the previous evening....No, it is more of a melody, a simple song. I slowly work my way down through the water letting the melody sing through the end of the swing...I am taking my time-sipping on the water in front of me, really working through it. As my fly swings into the current directly below me and considers halting, I feel a tug-it's not that damn rock again, this tug is moving back the other way...As I lift my tip the beast splashes on the surface and WHAM! this thing is headed on the first bus outta here...Adrienne hears the splash and looks up to see my running line and backing knot out in the river in front of her. I am gathering up my senses and trying to knock these feet into action. I clumsily begin picking up pace as fast as I can while the fish is pulling backing off my reel faster than a boot scootin' boogie.
I make it probably 30 yards down the gravel bar before it stops taking line and begin frantically trying to reel in line-I want my damn line back! Suddenly the fierce locomotive charges further out into the river and I begin my clumsy run dropping my hip pack, I need to be lighter! I run another 25 yards before it slows its run and I begin to reel with all my might. As I move to the river bank, a monstrous white bellied silver backed beauty lurches out of the water with all my fly line, running line, and backing out across the water. Whether it is here that this elusive creature hands me my fly back or on its speedy way back towards me, I will never know....I got my ass kicked.

Rogue Angel Dawn

Rogue Angel Dawn, originally uploaded by k8.Rogue Angels.

Finally got to fish with Dawn again the other day...pretty much awesome.

Dawn currently fishes a Beulah 12'6" 7/8 wt Spey Rod and a sexy little Hatch reel...she is blessed (or cursed) with a line geekout partner, so the line is ever changing...on this day she was testing out a new line combo.
